Great Outdoors

Gus Macker Basketball Tournament

Here in the Ludington and West Michigan area, we have a LOT of “Great Outdoors!”
We take pride in our miles of beautiful beaches, the Ludington State Park, the Manistee National Forest—and all the activities that take place in Mother Nature’s playground. Golfing, fishing, boating, hunting, elk ranches, historic villages—the fun is endless, all four seasons of the year. Fresh, clean air and the great outdoors of West Michigan—it doesn’t get any better than this.

Amber Elk Ranch

Winter Fun

There's no need to hibernate during the winter months in Ludington--not with all the great outdoor activities that use the snow for fun! For those who love snowshoeing or cross country skiing, you won’t have to travel far to enjoy your sport!

Amber Elk Ranch

Just minutes from Ludington. Visitors can take a tour of this 130 acre ranch aboard a comfortable wagon towed by a big farm tractor, traveling through sections of pasture & pine groves holding cow elk, yearling elk, and fully-antlered bulls.

Disc Golf

Beaches

It's true--no matter where you are in the Ludington area, you're just minutes from one of our beautiful beaches. If your idea of a perfect summer day is swimming, sunning, or people-watching, then you've discovered paradise.

Disc Golf

Disc golf shares many similarities with traditional golf, but instead of a ball, players toss a disc down a course and try to get to the target in as few throws as possible. The winner is the player who completes the course with the lowest score.

Gus Macker

Close to 900 teams ascend upon Ludington every June to compete at Stearns Park, with thousands more in spectators. The popularity of the Ludington Gus Macker is location—basketball hoops are set up along Stearns Outer Drive, with Lake Michigan just steps away.

Historic White Pine Village

Relive the past by taking a self-guided tour of more than 25 buildings in a beautiful setting. Exhibit themes depicting Mason County's past include farm life, education, businesses, sports, music, household, health, transportation and more from the late 1800s to mid 1900s. Enjoy the Gift Shop and Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor. Take exit 166 off US-31 expressway.

Fishing Tournaments

Skate Plaza

Local Fishing Tournaments

Whether it’s fishing for salmon on Lake Michigan, trout in the PM River, or walleye in Hamlin Lake—we’ve got the best variety here in Ludington. And local tournaments give anglers a chance to add a little money to their pocket in addition to the fish in their bucket.

Skate Plaza

The creation of the new Skate Plaza, which opened in 2008 during the July 4th weekend, is another example of how the Ludington community bands together for a worthy cause.
